G. The house is interesting for its strange floor which is reputed to have originally been part of a Roman Road which was absorbed into the house when its west wing was extended. There is also a small chapel on the upper floor and the exterior of the building is extremely picturesque. Another building of interest is Sandes Hospital in Highgate which was built in 1659 and has always been a home for the elderly having a number of Almshouses attached to it in addition to a school.
